|This proposed Hispanic Department Store in Downtown, Los Angeles,
manifests the clash of the modern and the ancient. Latter is represented by the ensemble
of motifs and statues from Mayan and Aztec temples reflecting the consumers' heritage and
its fatal crossing in time with "modern" world that dominated it and built
itself upon its ruins.
As the building turns, the shattering of the modern glass skin represents the demise of this dominance indifference to the rich heritages and our need for our spiritual past to be prominent in our lives, restored in its full glory.
